Full Moon Drum Circle

Monthly (full moon nights)

Locals and visitors gather on the beach near the pier for drumming, dancing, and fire performances under the full moon.

Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos)

November 1-2

A beautiful Mexican tradition honoring deceased loved ones. Look for colorful altars (ofrendas), marigold decorations, and cemetery celebrations throughout the city.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Festival

December 1-12

Puerto Vallarta's biggest celebration with nightly processions to the iconic church, fireworks, music, dancing, and incredible energy. The main celebration is December 12.

Puerto Vallarta Pride

Late May

One of Latin America's largest Pride celebrations with parades, beach parties, pool parties, and events throughout the Zona Romántica.

International Gourmet Festival

November

World-renowned chefs join local culinary talent for a week of gourmet dinners, cooking demonstrations, and food events.

Whale Watching Season

December - March

Humpback whales migrate to Banderas Bay to breed and give birth. Numerous tour operators offer whale watching excursions.

Carnaval

February (before Lent)

Street parades, floats, costumes, and festivities leading up to Lent. Smaller than other Mexican cities but still festive.

Mexican Independence Day

September 15-16

The "Grito" (cry of independence) on the night of the 15th followed by parades, fireworks, and patriotic celebrations on the 16th.

Semana Santa (Holy Week)

March/April (week before Easter)

Religious processions, beach crowds (many Mexican families vacation this week), and special church services.
